The Furaha Choir perform on Reformation Sunday, October 2006

The choir was started in December 1992 and currently has about 15 active choir members.  Most of the choir repertoire is in the Swahili language, although from time to time songs in other African languages and also in the English language are included.  The choir is based at St Anne's Lutheran Church and practices in the church every Saturday at 4 p.m.

The choir's main function is to sing in the Swahili Service held at the Church every first Sunday of a month.  Occasionally the Furaha choir sings in the English Service of the Church.

The choir has been involved in a number of concerts, events and TV appearances.  The first CD project was launched in year 2000.  Further CD projects are expected in the near future.  The choir is open to invitations to sing anywhere in the UK and around the world.  New choir members are always welcome - both Swahili speakers and non-Swahili speakers.
